Peers is a Mediterranean cuisine restaurant located in Belgrade near the Danube river in the Silosi port area. It is a reconstructed mid-20th century building originally intended for office spaces surrounded by a rapidly developing large creative cluster.

The space around the building became an important point for us while creating the restaurant’s interior design.

The path to the restaurant building and the entire cluster leads through a former industrial area with a cold, unappealing visual row and atmosphere. We wanted the restaurant space to provide warmth, coziness, and comfort to the visitors, softening the experience of passing through industrial spaces. This influenced the whole choice of the ambiance and warm colors inside.

The Mediterranean cuisine of the restaurant and its proximity to the river and the Silosi area, where there are sunbeds and a summer beach-like atmosphere, were also important details that influenced our design.

Inside, the walls have soft curves and handcrafted rough plaster, reminiscent of Mediterranean homes, were introduced, along with a soft warm cozy light, yellow sea beach stripes in the textile of the sofas, small format tiles with uneven edges, and individual items made of rattan.

The restaurant is situated within a mixed coworking space called Haos (serb. Chaos), and our task was to unite both places. The central connecting element of the space became a terracotta-colored cuboid block concealing the restaurant’s kitchen and restrooms.

There are several zones within the space. The main seating area for 50 people with intimate tables for two, benches, several family tables, and a large communal table in the center.

A focus was on making the space easily transformable and converting it into a single hall for events together with the coworking space. A glass partition was installed between the two spaces, enabling the bar area to merge with the coworking kitchen.

The restaurant boasts a large terrace for 70 people, where an industrial metal structure remaining from the building’s previous functions was left intact.

Peers: A Mediterranean Oasis in Belgrade's Industrial Past

Nestled in the revitalized Silosi port area of Belgrade, Peers offers a unique culinary experience. Housed in a repurposed mid-20th century building, the restaurant blends Mediterranean charm with industrial chic.

Inspired by the surrounding creative cluster and the building’s history, the interior design aims to create a warm, inviting atmosphere. Soft curves, handcrafted plaster, and natural materials evoke a Mediterranean home, while the terracotta-colored cuboid block housing the kitchen and restrooms adds a modern touch.

The restaurant’s versatile layout accommodates various seating options, from intimate tables for two to communal areas. A glass partition allows for seamless integration with the adjacent coworking space, Haos, making it ideal for events.

Outside, the spacious terrace, featuring an industrial metal structure, provides a relaxed outdoor dining experience. Peers is more than just a restaurant; it’s a destination that offers a taste of the Mediterranean in the heart of Belgrade.
