The ACT NOW sport studio, located in a new building in Belgrade, combines multiple functionalities in a compact 300 sqm space. Designed to accommodate sports, dance, yoga, TRX training, and a massage room that doubles as a VIP area for personal training, the studio also fulfills the client’s vision of creating a community and event space for lectures and gatherings.

Challenges and Solutions

The limited size and the constraints of ground-floor windows (with one side facing a sloped terrain) made this project particularly complex. Additionally, the design had to comply with strict regulations for locker rooms, toilets, a staff area with a kitchenette, and a wardrobe.

After exploring various layouts, we developed an ideal solution that balances multi-functional spaces while maintaining a sense of openness and flow. Despite the challenges, we preserved a waiting area before the training rooms and a welcoming, wow-effect central zone.

The Experience

Upon entering the studio, visitors are greeted by an expansive central space featuring an amphitheater-style seating area and a bar zone that doubles as a reception desk. This vibrant area serves as a hub for community interactions, where members can purchase merchandise, drinks, clothing, and sports gear.

Design Concept

The architectural concept is inspired by the idea of “chiseling” one’s body into a fitter, healthier version, a metaphor for transformation and lifestyle change. Today, sports are not just about fitness; they are a lifestyle encompassing fashion, food, and culture.

This concept is reflected in:

— The logo: Sculpted into the wall as if carved from stone.

— The bar and branding: Minimalist yet bold, reinforcing the studio’s identity.

— Materials and textures: The interior uses sports fabrics and yellow TRX tapes as functional and design elements, symbolizing flexibility and transformation.

The design allows the space to feel dynamic and adaptable, mirroring the idea that people, too, can reshape themselves.
